VILLAGES, DISTRICTS AND CHIEFDOMS IN THE NATION OF AFIZERE
From clan settlements - the old fashioned names has over the years metamorphosed and christened to Wards (Hamlets), villages, districts and chiefdom. This Nomenclature was initiated and implemented perherps to enhance proper, effective, efficient and a well coordinated bureaucratic process of governance. The constitution of these traditional institutions start since 1914 when Afizere in Bauchi Division had villages such as Maigemu, Shere, Fobur,Fursum and Jarawan Kogi. Whereas in Jos Division, There were also 5 villages such as Jos Jarawa, Mambur (Gwash), Gwafan, Furaka and Fudawa.

As the people increase in population, government saw the need to upgrade those villages to districts. Consequently, Fursum, Federe, Fobur, Shere and Jarawan became districts each under one paramount ruler called AGWOM IZERE during which they had been excised to Jos. Whereas their kith and kins remained villages under Gwong district headed by the Ujah of Anaguta.
In 2004, the administration of His Excellency, Chief Joshua Chibi (Governor of Plateau state - the re-engineering philosopher) upgraded all traditional institutions in the state. This saw Afizere with eleven districts in Jos North L.G.A and a chiefdom of second class status called JOS IZERE CHIEFDOM headed by its first chairman - His Royal Highness, Adagwom Innocent Bala Izang (late)") and now <%=ucase("His Royal Highness, adagwom Emmanuel Ajik") while that (chiefdom) of Jos East was upgraded from third class to an excellent first class status called IZERE CHIEFDOM, headed by its first chairmain His Royal Highness,Rev.
